PREVENTATIVE CARE

Modern Facilities

Granite City Pet Hospital is a modern veterinary care facility designed to meet all of your pet's needs. Our hospital features a complete surgical suite, digital radiology, and an in-house laboratory.  We believe strongly in preventative care and our goal is to maximize your pet's happiness, health, and longevity.  Preventative care services offered include physical examinations, vaccinations, heartworm and intestinal parasite testing and prevention, veterinary dentistry, nutritional counseling and senior pet healthcare.

Internal Medicine

We recommend a complete physical exam for your pet twice yearly.  As pets age faster than people, we can expect to have concerns arise in a short time frame.  Those changes can be more common as your pet ages.  Preventative health care recommendations are made based on examination findings and your pet’s individual needs and situations, which you help us to determine.  These may include blood, urine, fecal exams, ultrasounds, vaccination recommendations, dietary or exercise advice, and life-style changes .

Geriatric Pet Care

We provide special attention to aging pets focusing on preventative measures for the early detection and treatment of problems.  Older patients commonly experience the same problems that older humans do – heart problems, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, dental problems, hearing and vision loss, arthritis, etc.  And, just like with people, your cat's or dog's health will change as it ages.  And because pets age faster than people, major health changes can happen quickly.  An examination of your pet along with simple labwork will provide needed information for us to help your pet live a long and healthy life.
